Paul. The '58 thru '60 MEL engines had the full FE bellhousing bolt pattern. Starting in '61, it was modified to the newer pattern that is what I'll call an 'incomplete FE pattern' and essentially did away with the bellhousing bolt location below the FE starter location. I'm assuming you've double checked the gauge for temperature accuracy? I've already run across two oil pressure gauges this year that were reading abnormally high.

Can a 410 (4.2 bore) be bored to a 430 size (4.3) safely? I have found a NOS set of forged 11.5:1 4.3 standard sized pistons. Here's a sonic test sheet for a '58 Edsel 410 that was already 0.060" over. It potentially could have been bored out to 4.300" and still had the prerequisite 0.100" minimum ...
