Re: 1960 2 barrel intake wanted

The 383 and 430 4V intakes were the same for 1958. I see no reason a 383 intake could not be used on a '60 Lincoln engine other than the part numbers and date codes may not match what you are looking for.

Re: Big Block, Small Block, What ist correct for a MEL 462!

Short answer is all M-E-L engines are considered big blocks. It's generally accepted that engines with less than 4.500" between bore centers are small blocks and engines greater than this are big blocks. Ted Eaton.

Wanted: NOS STD MEL main bearings.

I'm looking for the original standard sized main bearings for the MEL engine. I can get the aftermarket bearings but they are fully grooved. I'm looking for the original half grooved bearings that were available for the M-E-L engines. The bearings I've come across are in Lincoln boxes but suspect th...

WTB: 58-60 430 Block

Needing a 1958-1960 430 block for an engine project. Needs to be a usable block and not requiring extensive overboring to clean it up. Would prefer it to be in the general central Texas area but would consider shipping costs if the prices are affordable. Just email me at ted-at-eatonbalancing-dot-co...

Re: What's the size of MEL Engine Lifters?

From our current discussion here's a list according to the gathered information so far. (Please correct me or add info) I would like to know in particular if all early Y block lifters or just the 1954 Lincoln lifters are compatible w. the MEL lifters. MEL lifters are compatrible with the following ...

Re: What's the size of MEL Engine Lifters?

Theo. Meant to say that the bleed down rate is different between the two available hydraulic lifters. Going deeper into the catalogue finds two different variety of solid lifters also for the engines. As a further FYI, the 385 hydraulic lifter and the one for the small block Ford are also the same p...

Re: What's the size of MEL Engine Lifters?

Those lifters listed for adjustable valve trains are hydraulic. Likely something to do with the preload is different. The 385 series uses a different lifter due to having to supply oil to the topend via the pushrods.

Re: What's the size of MEL Engine Lifters?

What's the size of MEL engine lifters? I wonder if they do interchange with those of an FE or any other Ford engine. ......Numbers of the diameter and height of a lifter would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I was close on the diameter of the lifter above but the actual spec for the diameter is ...

Re: What's the size of MEL Engine Lifters?

If the link bars are too short, then depending upon the lifter design the bars themselves may or may not be able to be changed out. But many of the earlier FE roller lifters did have the longer link bars and are okay for use in the MEL engines as is. Haven't specifically looked at 460 roller lifters...
