Re: Oil pump replacement

What you have is a vacuum pump attached to the oil pump. This vacuum pump along with the intake manifold provide vacuum for the wipers. You can remove this and convert to electric wipers. If you do this then the oil pump you purchased can be used without a vacuum pump.

Re: Correct engine color

The only decal that is correct for the air cleaner are the service instructions. I'm not familiar with Lincoln details, primarily a Squarebird guy.

Re: Correct engine color

When used on the 59 and 60 Thunderbird, the correct engine color is black with black valve covers. Air cleaner and the duct and valve assembly were painted white. White fan on non-A/C cars and black when using the A/C 5 blade fan.

Re: Need check valve

That check valve is extremely hard to find. One shows up on ebay every now and then, but not lately. As a substitute you can plumb in a plastic check valve that was used with the emission controls used on 80's era Ford passenger cars.

Re: Distributor Interchangability

In the comparison of distributors, one thing that was not mentioned is the difference in the number of teeth on the gear. The top one has 15, and the bottom 16. FWIW

Ring Compressor?

I'll have my 430 block back from the machine shop soon and before I begin assembly I need some information on a good ring compressor.
