Re: 430 Super Marauder

Motor Trend- September 1958 This is a nice in-depth article by Don Francisco. He is no longer around, but I like reading his articles because he goes out of his way to explain things so the average person can understand. There are a few things I find odd about this article, however, that I will go ...

Re: 430 Super Marauder

Joe Bunetic can make you a carb and linkage. I have some options if you are looking for an original.

Re: Edelbrock L300

Here's an item of interest from the Sept 1958 Motor Trend that someone kindly sent me. Don Francisco had one of these setups dealer-installed on a '58 Mercury and then proceeded to test it. He explains how the linkage worked in real-life and how letting off the throttle was like stomping on the bra...

Re: Casting number??

I looked at your registry and noticed you have an early '58. In the last year or so I located an early '58 410 engine in Canada. I was only interested in the water pump for my early '58 Continental but the seller would not sell just that part. The entire engine was reasonably priced but shipping was...

Re: Casting number??

I would check the car's build date off the vin plate and compare against the engine final assembly date. That will tell you how many months difference you are looking at and if the chronology makes sense. In my experience with 1958 430 engines, they were final assembled ~2-4 weeks before the car was...
