Re: Who would buy a gear drive?
Yes...but how applicable to a MEL would the FE be? I've been searching on other forms and have been told guys made their own up years ago by using a second crank gear. I really don't see that working with the timing sets available today.

Who would buy a gear drive?
If I find a maker willing to build us a gear drive timing setup, who would want one? Who would be best to contact? Has anyone else already tried? I love the whine of a noisy gear drive. Sounds as good as a blower.

Re: MEL aluminum Valley cover project proposal
Is this still alive??? I read through the thread do these valley pans fit all years of the "MEL" such as (1958-1959)-(1960-196?) If so, I'm interested in one of these valley pans. Sort of yes sort of no. Right now we are waiting on Moon, who has already reoffered earlier this year their sharp valve...

Re: Differences Between Early and Late 430s
I have a 58 super marauder that I'm prepping for a build. The main reason I like the 60 and older is because of the bell pattern. I bought an old FE Ansen Scatter shield bell and it looks really cool bolted to the engine. You can't do that with a 61 and later. I'm sure there are improvements in the ...

Re: MEL aluminum Valley cover project proposal
The design is being tweaked right now. I received one and there was going to be some bolt alignment problems on the side. Those are going to be elongated front to back to allow for shifting on different head profiles. There is going to be some work in the front and back saddles that guys are just go...

Valley pan info needed
Fill me in on the differences between valley pans. What type of modification has to be made to an older block to use PCV?

Re: MEL aluminum Valley cover project proposal
OK, I've gotten some email about this so I thought I would update everyone here. I'm still trying to figure out which pan to send him. Is there any one pan that will cover all years? Mines a 59 and had road draft. I wanted to put PCV back but I remember something about a hump on the old ones that in...
