Re: What valve springs are you using?
I used edelbrock rpm springs retainers and keepers for big block Chevy. Umbrella valve seals. Fit perfect. Ordered right out of Summit catalog. Tjr

REV Kit for MEL
Rev kits. Came across old ISKY roller cam rev kit. Thinking of having CNC cut billet aluminum plates for pattern so can use different and more modern type of springs. Maybe for use with standard hydraulic or flat tappet cam. Still in thought process, so any ideas and thoughts are welcome. With a lit...

Re: 58 410 valve noise
I would suggest a high pressure oil pump. One for FE ford is interchangeable. I would avoid thicker oil on a new engine. Maybe a 10-30 or 15-40 at most. Never had hydraulic lifter problems. TJR

Re: Roller lifters
Thank you. Have Roller rockers and hardened shafts. Can't find any of the old Isky roller lifters, and I am waffling back and forth about running a roller cam. Might just get a solid lifter cam ground. Any info on roller lifters would be great. FE roller lifters do not work. They are not wide enough...

Roller lifters
What parts or combination of parts are used to create a solid roller lifter for the MEL 430? Can't find any old Isky stuff and I get the impression that some application of link bar lifters can be modified for use in MEL engines. 460 ford? I need a clue. TJR

Re: big valves
I have heard that 462 heads could be made to flow better, but the big valve early heads could still flow 300cfm. I have not seen any data, and Slover said he did not think any MEL head could flow over 300. So I really do not know what the limitations or advantages there are for any of the MEL heads....

Re: TRI POWER AIR CLEANER
So I gotta ask..........where is this boat? I saw an old flatbottm many years ago near Napa Ca kind of like you describe. Guy would swap from tri power to 8 duces to a stock four barrel setup. Gold or Mustard colored. Pretty sure he blew up the engine. Boat sat tied to a dock for a few years and guy...
