MANY THANKS to everyone who has contributed to the information in these files. This forum will always be a work in progress. It’s a way to file away all of my Commander information for personal use, and it’s also a way to share it with anyone else who may be interested, or who may need the info (for their personal and non-commercial purposes). Because much of the information on the forum is not checked for accuracy, represents opinions in some cases from unknown sources, and may represent a safety or personal/financial liability if acted upon, the information in this forum and Master Index is offered with the very best of intentions, but it MUST be validated by the user before being implemented for utilization. If anyone sees a link in this index that does not work, please post a note and I’ll fix it!

Since the forum has a lot of really good information that is hidden within threads, some of it original and not to be found anywhere else, I thought it would be of benefit to everyone if the information was grouped in an index. I hope this is a helpful tool to maintain and own a vintage water-cooled Porsche. Items common to the 924/944/968/928 appear first, then there is a 928 Section, followed by the 944 Section. We share what we have, so if you have photos or information you think would be worth sharing, please post away and we’ll put your info in the index.

PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS
Most of the performance enhancements that can be made will be done to the suspension, because the 944 motor is already hot rodded from the factory. At 2.5 liters for the smallest version, putting out 150-hp, not much else can be done to provide real usable power unless lots of money is spent on disassembly, balancing, and very expensive parts. Therefore I tell everyone to “enjoy the car for what it is”. It’s a canyon and back road countryside carver. It has good power, but it has a world-class suspension of the highest standard. It is not a stop-light drag car, and there is no need to pretend it is (it’s so much better than that).
