In my Gasket set came the rope type seal and one of the blocks I have still has the same in it with the little pin thing to hold it in place will it be ok to use the new rope seal for the rear main From what I read you do not stagger this seal as you would the rubber ones instead it just gets trimmed off flush with the surfaces of the cap etc. I only ask as I already have one and if it will still work ok then would rather not have to get another. Also anyone have a rough idea of what it runs these days to align bore a block had some bad run ins with a few machine shops in the past that tried to take me for a ride and it has been about 13yrs since I last had any run ins with one
You could remove the pin and use a rubber seal in place of the rope gaskets if you prefer. As far as align boring is concerned I just spent $285.00 to get the 427 done. That seems to be in line with a lot of machine shops. Good luck...
