There are several OEM wires wrapped in black electrical tape on the drivers side from the firewall of my 1962 Galaxie. Using a test light, one wire lights up with key in the ON (right)position but is dead when key is in assessory (left) position. This must be ignition wire that goes to + side of coil. Another wire "PULSES" in either position and 3rd wire is very weak in both positions. Anyone know what the pulse wire and weak wire are for?
If they're all together, I'd say oil pressure warning/stitch,
temp warning indicator/light, did the car have AC?, either
factory or dealer installed, as one could be for the compressor
clutch...
If it's goint to the engine harness then it will be the temp sensor wiring that is pulsing. The wire that is on when the is in run position will be coil positive. The wire that is on but dim will be oil pressure light sending unit. You can ground the pulsing wire and the dim wire and will see the oil light come on and the temp gage move. BTW, ground one at a time.
