Very cool site. In the racing McCulloch section there is a story and pics of Larry Walkers old "Legal Cheater" 57 Ford Custom 2dr sedan, which has been owned by Cec Hardy from up here in BC Canada for decades, and has not been raced since the early 70`s. Hopefully it will be ready for this years Mega Ford race at Mission Raceway.
Before I switched to 351C`s, and later FE`s in the early 70`s, I played around and raced a couple of different 57 Fords with Y blocks, and still think they are pretty cool.

Yeah I know as I raced my 57 312 3 on the tree back when new.Mine was the 2X4 and a buddy had me switch his over to the supercharged set up from a guy he met that didn't want to hear the whine of it going down the road.I was sick not to get it myself but swapped heads and cams etc one day on the curb in front of my parents house. My dad just shook his head.We got a new wind pump later and it was much more quieter.I told my buddy to use STP and change the oil more often as the balls would get a little rough causing the scream.
I love my LWG but have always wanted to restore a 57 if nothing else but a daily driver.

Bang for the buck

was great as in the late 80's I built a 304 cid y-block for my 57 (.080) over 292. I put 2 inch intakes in the ecz-g heads and 1.60 ex valves. Did a home poting job and tried a couple of different cams (clay smith and isky 505) Made a tunnel ram for it and sprayed it with 150 of nos. That 3800 lb tudor htp went 12.09 at 110 mph as its best and would regularly run 12.30's with junkyard C-4's that I made an adapter for. It was fun beating much larger and more modern mucle cars with it. Drove it from my place to the Minnesota state fairgrounds over 50 miles more than once with the 5.14 rear gears to and would usually hammer it down a few times on the way home (with the nos engaged) just for fun.
