Scott Hollenbeck, after visiting your registry site I noticed in the timing cover ID......

.........section only the year is identified, not the month. Has anyone mentioned/noticed the significance of the tiny, raised dots on the outer edge of each date's impression on the covers? They seem to me to indicate the month they were cast (2=Feb-68; 6=June-69; and 3/4=March/April-70). Just a thought and maybe it can be confirmed by someone with an original car, Mustang or otherwise, JMO, Rod.

You are correct, cast parts like that are dated

Even oil filter mounts that are die cast are the same. The number in the middle is the year and the number of dots is the month. I am not sure if this was as well recognized when Scott created the page and with all the work he does on the site, updating for details like this may be a "I'll get to it someday" project. It has been discussed on his forum and it is pretty widely understood but it is something an inexperienced person would want to know. Hawkrod
