It is not a Ford facility although they are probably a source but it should not impact Ford in any way. Hawkrod

The last line in the article.
"The Severstal mill previously was owned by Ford as part of what had been the world's largest industrial complex."

That's a sad statement about our poor state of affairs sad.gif

Ford had divested itself in the steel-making business long ago. Rouge Steel.......

.......became a seperate entity and later bought by the current owners. It happened to be an empty storage shed at the time of the mishap, Rod.

Rouge Plant

December 24 2008, 6:36 AM

My Dad worked for Ford here in Cleveland, (Like Father, like son!) and sometime during the early 60s we took a trip to Michigan. We stopped at the Rouge plant and got a short tour. I'll never forget the sheer size of that place. It just went on for what seemed like miles. If I remember right, they even made their own glass! He also said the only thing not made there was tires.
I remember feeling awed and proud at that firebreathing monster. Funny that that feeling lasted just about every time I walked into the Cleveland Casting Plant for my shift.
So sad that Americans have no pride in that sort of thing anymore. Now, it's all about some "virtual" company on the Internet and how many people you can bamboozle.

I tried to take a picture of it but my camera doesn't have a wide enough angle to get much without being miles away. It must stretch for twenty city blocks. Buildings that would make great indoor dragstrips.
