I know there are several others out there. I know the owner of this car and he is trying to gather historical info to restore the car to original race trim.

Yeah - I've got pics of the Paul Harvey/Platt 67 on my wall...

but I thought I'd read somewhere that Stark Hickey had somehow backed the 67 for him as well. It didn't make sense to me when I read it either...

Edit - did some searching and here's a link I found that references Stark Hickey sponsoring Platts 67 Fairlane...

Is this a typo, or did Hubert drive a Fairlane for them at one point?

Bill Allie Jr.

The car is restored and resides in Quincy Ill , one of the $1.00 factory cars and 1 of only 2 factory automatics . raced in greenish gold color , original color was Saturn Gold with black vinyl roof . The present owner told me the car was also sponsered at one time by J C Penny ??

apparently was Allie's partner in the 427 Fairlane, not a bad guy to have working on your car!

See link, Super Stock Magazine 1968 - Volume #1. Lists both names for the same car.

I talked to him lastnight. The car was never restored, just repaired and repainted back to the original color. He thinks the guy that started J.C.Pennys automotive centers owned it at one time. He is somewhat reluctant to restore it back to Stark Hickey paint and trim but his Son is trying to convince him to do it. Thats why I and Danny Girolomo are trying to dig up some written history on the car. He told me that you mailed documents to him concerning it some time ago.

restored , I meant freshened

December 24 2008, 6:50 AM

Brian told me that the driveline was all there when he got it , he sent me a couple pics of it before and after . I think it said Gold Rush on the quarters . He did say that they stripped all the previous coats of paint and found bodyfill under the original factory paint that was over the mirror hole in the door , and that the car didnt have a passenger side sunvisor . But no I guess the car never had a full blown restoration .
