4783 Two Barrel Info request

Does anyone have a picture or a link of a 4783 Holley two barrel carb?

I am interested in up'ing the CFM on my 3x2 setup and I understand this build number flows 500 CFM. I've read it will fit the Ford FE 3x2 manifold on the front and rear positions.

It was used on the Mopar Six Pack systems.

Thanks

Paul

I have started on this also and have picked up two 600 CFM R-6425s ...

I am going to use the 500 CFM R-4783 as the center carb.

The linkage is very different. You need to get Holley Carburetor Throttle Lever Studs HLY-20-38 1/ 4 in. or HLY-20-37 7/32 in (I don't remember which) and then rework the linkage.

You will also have to open up the intake as the throttle bores are 1-3/4" as I recall.

You will also have to use the original bowls in order to get them to mount together.

I am planning on eliminating the power valves and of course jetting will have to be determined.

Should be fun,

Not a restoration but a decent used set up I pieced together for a guy years ago. Did this before the factory throttle shafts were readily available. You can use some of the existing holes on the throttle levers and still have enough linkage adjustment to synchronize it correctly. Had to make a small machined piece for the center carb to attach linkage on the backside so it would align correctly with the outboard throttle levers. Now that factory throttle shafts can be bought it's easier to replace them and not fab anything. You'll need to make a spacer for the bellcrank to clear the base at the center or do a little grinding to the base and make some offset air cleaner studs, as the spacing is different. Probably a few other little things to do but was so many years ago I forget, wasn't anything very challenging to do for sure. These are completely Mopar carbs, fuel bowls, fittings, etc, nothing really needs changed on these particular carbs. This went on a 427 in a Cobra and the guy told me it ran like a scalded ape.

Good luck

Which way is best?

Bob and Ken,
Bob's post makes me wonder, which would be a better setup for a street car - Putting two 500cfm carbs on the outboards or just a center 500 cfm?

I am running a 431 (bored/stroked 390) with Crane Hyd. Roller cam - #349521 - 222 degree, 10:1, Edelbrock heads in a Cobra, 2600 lbs. The car could use a little more carburetion than the stock 750 the tripower offers.

Bob's post about putting it in the center spot made me think this might be a better solution

Comments?

Paul

I'm setting up the two 600's on the ends and a 500 in the center.
