I never had taken pix of these but since I am gaoing through the mill I remembered to snap a few. Many folks here know the car, a '58 Custom that was set up for AHRA modified stock back in '66 with a 352. They allowed certain head mods but no porting. Seems silly what they did allow. These used to have small chambers. Now they measure 69.6ccs. Those are 2.19" and 1.66' valves. Now, look close. The heads were relieved for the valves, but they were relieved all the way out to the gasket edge. No problem on a 427, right? But this engine has a 4.03" bore, so the relieved area hangs over the cylinder wall. I dunno, seems to me that some 2"&1.55" valves and less chamber work would have beem better. Especially with the tri-power. BTW, the exhaust valves would touch the cylinder walls when the engine was warm. I had to have the walls notched.
Anyways, some history.
Nice to hear you're back under way on this car. Back in July you told me that you were going to pick a "snotty" cam for this motor. I searched under snotty in several cam catalogs and came up empty. Obviously, I overlooked something. Can you clue me?
The old Erson 515H that came with the car has been out for a while. As it sat, it developed a little surface rust in some areas. I figger that I can't use it now, so I need a replacement. The specs are .535 lift, 308 gross duration, 111 LSA. Had a nice bumpy idle. I'm looking for something similar so's I don't have to buy new springs.
I could take some pix and post them tomorrow. Maybe the cam could be saved. It's just that the lifters are lost, so I would have to break in new lifters.
I have no info on these. I thought they were done at Grant Piston Service in Alhambra (now defunct) along with the engine in 1966. What did Yates do with FEs?
Butchery. Too bad, lissen, they are just junk, my address is...

It sold once but the guy backed out claiming his basement flooded.

A real car guy would have handed his wife a hand pump and hit the road with the cash. Anyways, the auction had too much stuff in it. I'm gonna put the car back how it was when I bought it, back to being the vintage racer it was. Then it will go back to Ebay.
Those things were neat. Usualy a '63 Galaxie 390 wagon would have them

They didn't have the machined spring cups, but were the little chambers and a C3AE number. I used to grab every pair I could get. A few years ago, a guy had a '70's mutt truck for sale with a set of C0AE-Ds on it that he said pinged like crazy without race gas. He wouldn't part with just the motor, and I couldn't afford the truck.
