O/T Winter pics from the desert small pics but dial up warning

Here are some pictures around my house from the storm, some are beautiful and a few are sad. The big tree that took most of the damage was over 100 years old. It lost some big limbs and we will have to see what the arborist says about it. I fear that the canopy will be thinned too much by the missing limbs and thus make the other limbs a potential hazard when the wind blows (we have big wind storms here). Enjoy and cry! Hawkrod

At Least Your Safe

December 18 2008, 2:28 PM

Big tree limbs like that have been known to kill people inside a house when they fell. And the car can be fixed! Don't mean to sound insensitive, guess I just been thru too many hurricanes.

Glad you & your family are ok. ww

Yeah we are fine

Just shocked. I know about trees and the damage they can do. One of these limbs actually broke off about 70 feet up. Fortunately it's fall was checked by the other limbs. The insurance guy did not expect what he saw! LOL Here in the desert most people don't have the kind of trees I do. The Tbird roof has a few really good dents and one buckle but it will be fine. Fortunately it is a vinyl top car so damage will be easier to hide! Hawkrod

Winter of 08

Nice pictures. I suppose you'll be wanting to move Minn. with Shoe, Jay, and the boys where you can enjoy snow more often... 8" to 12" coming in tonight.

white Christmas at least

December 18 2008, 8:19 PM

It's cold here and we have snow like that too, some little branches on the road but nothing that size. Lucky it landed on a TBird and not another less fortified car.
Our palm trees are shivering and the mighty river is almost all frozen over.

At least I don't feel bad for not being able to afford going to Palm Springs!

I am about an hour north west of you as the crow flies

December 19 2008, 1:06 PM

Just on the western edge of the Mohave in Apple Valley. We still have about 6 inches around my house but I have a few friends farther out that have 2 feet still. Hawkrod
