I got my stroker 390 with my wimpy t-5 slipped into the 57. I was cussing the parts guy at dennis carpenters as I was changing the motor mounts around but in the lite of day I am starting to wonder if he was right--I cant get my sway bar back on the Canton T-pan interferes--any experience here??--My clutch linkage is got me in a lather too.--The Z-bar seems to be at a nice right angle to the car like the mounts on frame and block are lined up nicely but the block side seems a little low?? and with the block mount I am using the Z-bar seems too long--This car ran a 428 with toploader for years with what I thought was original 57 clutch linkage--I know my block bracket is from a 63---are they the same??Zbar also awfully close to steering box (a 60 box)--maybe I do need the engine moved back--can someone with FE in a 57 measure something to help me decide--Maybe back of block to the firewall or something?? thanks
I istalled a FE in my old 57 Sedan Delivery years ago, using the stock 57 V8 "C" shape motor mounts. They bolt right onto the FE block, and are a fair bit taller than a 63 mount. Pretty sure that they were the same mount for the 58 factory FE cars, and are similar to my 59`s, other than the 57-58 usees 2 studs on the bottom, and 59`s have a single stud.

Those are the motor mounts I am using--the 63 mount/bracket referred to the braket on the block that holds the Z bar---Is the open portion of your MOTOR mounts facing forward or rearward???
The c mounts should work fine. I drilled and installed two grade 8 bolts through the center of the c to keep them from splitting the rubber. They are pretty much solid mounts now.
My z bar was tricky to install. The bronze bushing halves are a bitch. I had to elongate the holes on the block side z bar bracket. The headers get in the way. I learned some new four letter words installing it.
I think the sway bar may not fit with the t pan. I am not sure. Try installing the bar after the engine is in. More four letter words on this operation using a heavy duty 1" sway bar. I used the canton deep sump on my 428.
Best of luck to you. let me know if I can be of assistance.

I greatly appreciate the response but no one has answered my key questions!!!--do the "C" mounts face with the "open" end of the "C" toward the firewall or toward the front of the car as this would make about a 1" difference in how far forward or rearward the motor sits.-Another way to look at it is to measure from back of block to the firewall--this distance will tell me if the mounts are on backwards or correctly--my suspiscion is I have them backward but before I lift motor again and change I would like to verify--thanks .Does anyone know for sure if the engine-side bracket for the Z-bar is different from 57 to a 63???
I measured my 58/352 Fairlane and it is 3 1/4 from the firewall to the intake.
I measured it close to the middle. Stock rocker cover is 1 1/4 from the firewall on drivers side.
Have a A/T so I can't help you on the linkage problem.
I just went out and looked under the hood of my 59. The open section of the "C" is to the back, facing the firewall. Thus the flat section faces foreward.

Thanks for all the help-- dern if the parts guy at dennis carpenter wasnt right--I turned the mounts around and of course had to refab my tranny mount/notch the lower A arms and still scratch my head about the Zbar bracket--I tried the sway bar but alas it still wont fit--that canton T pan looks great but I dont know if it is worth the hassle--I think I am going to notch the back of the T pan at both corners and search for some sway bar ideas--thanks again
