Got an autolite of the original 352 in my 65 galaxie. The part number is c5af av a 5ab on the tag. c5afaa is stamped on the base plate. The clock on the side shows 1.12. What size 4 barrel is this? Is it a good carb? Thanks!
What you have is a 4100 series carb, if I remember right it's about 600 cfm, they are very good simple carbs, easy to work on and tune. Rebuild kits are available at most parts houses, the last one I got was from my local NAPA store.
figure. When I got my 64 Galaxie it had one on it that was really gunked up, so I looked at getting a rebuilt on on eBay. I ended up getting a kit from NAPA, so I didn't buy anything from them, but that may be where I got the idea those carbs were 600 CFM.
Holley said they usually use wet flow 1.5" Hg, at least on their older 4-barrels from the 1960s-70s.
Some of the newer Holleys are flowed dry and I think at 2.0" Hg, and under those test conditions the 1.12 Autolite 4100 might be about 600cfm. Of course, at 3.0" Hg it would be even higher. I wish everybody would flow at 1.5" Hg for clarity.
I assumed your 520cfm was at 1.5" Hg but wondered if your 520cfm was wet or dry?
I have the one off of my 352 on a 302 in the '65 Mustang

Its a low compression 302, but it has the little Lunati Voodoo 250°/256° adv with 207°/213° @ .050 and with the HO 351W firing order and a Performer 289 intake with hi-po exhaust manifolds, with 2" duals with a H pipe. This is a very well matched setup for a C-4 and 3.00 gears. The carb is all over it like a cheap suit, very responsive and gets right around 20 mpg.
I like them, I just wish they had made one about 750 cfm. There is the Holley 4010...
These were the most trouble free carbs we had.If you take the top off and it looks good and the throttle shafts are not stuck then you can get a kit at most parts houses and do it yourself.Very easy to do.It is not a performance carb but good for a stock daily driver.
