CYL HEAD I.D.

According to my reference book, your heads are : late 1963 406-6v, w/ spring seat cups combustion chamber volume in c.c. is 56.4-61.0, valve sizes should be 2.022-2.037" intake and 1.645-1.660 exhaust. I hope this info helps! Dean

C3AE 6090 C heads

December 11 2008, 3:21 AM

Hi Jack, Your heads are mid 63 "high compression" heads; 406 heads if equipped with 1.66 exhaust valves and machined valve spring seats; small combustion chamber like the C1AE-6090-A head. Low riser.
By the way, I enjoy your stories and pictures very much, thanks for posting!

Yes, that number was used on two different heads

As noted above, if it has spring cups under the valve springs and big valves it is a 406 head but if it does not have the cups and has small valves it is a 390 high compression head. Either way they are better than a standard C1AE or C4AE head because they do have a smaller chamber. Hawkrod
