I may be asking a silly question.

Haven't been here in a while. Busy with, you know, life. Anyway, I was thinking, with all the so called "deficiencies" with the FE oiling system, has anyone tried a home made "side oiler" drilling into the oil galleys to the mains and pluming up a line externally? What about doing this and blocking the passage connecting the mains and the cam bearings insuring this oil is dedicated to the mains. Am I just being silly?

Doesn't seem like it would be that hard to do yourself. Would it be worth the effort?

Anyone tried it?

For a race or very hi performance engine, the center oiler design is not the best for oiling. I have no clue to why Ford thought it would be a good idea to oil the cam before the rods and mains. Someone offers a kit, I just cant remember right off who it is. Someone here will though.

I know that Pro-Stock Engineering's Paul Bedoian offered a kit many years back. Oiled through the cross bolts to the mains , I believe.

engines often use a system that directs oil from a section of the dry-sump pump to the cross-bolts. Those bolts are hollow and offer a way to introduce oil directly to the crank. The passages in the caps are angled to introduce the oil in such a way that the 'oil cushion' is enhanced.
