.....So I figured I'd let you see what it is I'm working with. I think it's a damn sexy truck, and besides, everyone likes a couple of pics now and then in a forum full of text.
No other reason to post than to share the pics. Hope you guys like it. BTW, didnt run a compression check yet, but I found a good cam that should work nicely when I finish the turbocharger piping. (if the Wolverine/Blue Racer cam that's in it is causing my stutter)

Yeah that's my beast. I bought that truck when I was in high school (around '95-'96) and am so glad to have it back. It is a re-paint of the factory color. The guys at the local PPG said it was hard to mix because it's only like 3 drops of blue to a gallon of white. Don't know a hell of a lot about painting but I'll take their word for it. Also, I have a 1972 3/4 ton that came factory with a 390 4bbl that had a factory ford low rise aluminum intake. Probably nothing major but I'd never seen one of those intakes before. Body is really nice on the '72 but it needs paint and interior. Might do something with it one day, but straightening out one truck is enough for right now. BTW, sorry for posting this here and not in pics, but as I said before, it's been a LONG time since I was here and I didn't even know how to post pics back in the day, lol. Thanks for the kind words though, glad to hear from others who appreciate the early 70's FoMoCo stuff.

And I have to assume the engine is factory due to its condition and mileage on the truck. What made you think I was implying that it was a 4x4? It IS 3/4 ton long bed regular cab, but not a 4x4. Really just some good parts for my '71 if no one decides to buy it. Thinking about switching the front suspension to use the heavier springs and brakes under my '71. Might swap the rear diff. too if it would be stronger than the one I have. I run a 1/2 ton 4x4 rear end from a '76 model truck. 31 spline, limited slip, 1,360lb rated axles. You think the big 3/4 ton rear end would be better in a 400+ hp street rod truck? Guess the gear ratio has to be considered, I haven't checked the ratio in the 3/4 ton, but I run 3.55 gears in the '71. Any opinions are appreciated.

no 4x4 trucks came with a 390, let alone a 390 4 barrel.
A Ford 9 Inch is considered a 3300 LB axle, so what specifically do you have if you call it a 1360 axle?
Keep in mind there are many 800+ horsepower cars and trucks out there with the Ford 9 inch. Dana 60s are excellent too which I assume is what your F250 would have.
I didn't know that about the 4x4 not having a 390 option. I learn something new every day! And i was identifying the axles The way the parts guy identified them to me, and the 1,650 was a typo. It's a 3,650lb 31 spline. There were several different ones listed when I went to buy new bearings and we finally matched them with a 1977 Ranchero w/3,650 axle. Same axle that was used in the 4x4 though the ranchero didn't usually get the limited slip. The axle I used in my '71 was a 4x4 axle, but being from a 75-77 model I had to move the spring perches and shock mounts to match my truck as the '72 and earlier is about 4" narrower frame in the rear.
Thanks for the interest in my ride!
