I think the galaxie must be too loud...

Today I took my wife christmas shopping in it and it was the first time she had ridden in it since the rebuild.

Anyway, we pulled up to a stoplight next to a little old lady in a VW Gti. Wendi sort of laughed and said "look at her water". She had a water bottle in a cup holder on the dash. The water was rippling in sync with the rough idle of the galaxie. It was very Jerassic Park like.

Well Done Chuck!

A proper Hot Rod should scare animals, small children and old people. My Mom being the exception, she's 80 and still digs riding in my Galaxie which is very loud. (or was when it still had an engine in it) ww

LOL, I always say the first real test of any engine build is when stuff on the shelves....

starts vibrating off from the exhaust pulses. My kid and his preteen friend's reactions in seeing this phenomenon was one of the priceless moments of fatherhood........ And that was from a B303 cammed 302.

My mom too...

December 8 2008, 8:52 AM

There was always a standing rule at my folks house that whenever you left your car there, you left your keys there too...just in case of "emergency". If you came back to find that there was substantially less rubber on the tires...rest assured my mother had something to do with it.

I left my '63 Fairlane (5.0, 5spd.) at her house one time. Mom decided to take my 90 year old gramma to the doctor in it. When I came back to get the car, granny told of the great fun they had "spin'n tires". Guess it's hereditary.

The 427 in my Mustang is a little more of a challenge for the 77 year old. She'll gas it, lift, gass it, lift, afraid to go for second gear. Good! Her personal hot rod is a '56 T-Bird with a +.060 312, ported heads, Isky cam, and Pertronix ignition. Spin'n tires...no problem!

Absolutely awesome! Nothing like the thump of a big-block camming away at a stop light!

Nothing says "Welcome to the neighborhood!" like forty-foot ruts through the front yard!
