In the January 09 issue of MM&F there is an article on Downing & Ryan. I had a hand in helping Doug Marion with the article as did John Downing and Jim Ryan. In addition to phone conversations and e-mails, my website (www.thegoingthing.com) was at Doug's disposal. Having said all of this there are several mistakes and inaccuracies in the article. He even misspelled my name, there goes my 15 minutes of fame LOL! Anyway my website crashed shortly after the article came out and I have received a record number of visits. My Son and I are revamping the site and I will have a response to a few of the inaccuracies there. I do thank Doug and MM&F for running the article since it was first conceived before the magazine changed hands. I was sure the article was going to get spiked. As I get ready to campaign the Fairlane this next year it will be on a limited basis due to the cost of everything these days.

I have been a member of the FE Forum since its conception almost 10 years ago and appreciate all of the members that I have met and even feuded with a little over the years. Hope to see you this summer. Earl Hayes

For those of you that haven't met Earl in person, I am lucky enough to have done that. Earl and his family hosted my son and I on our cross country drive in my '66 Fairlane in, what was it, 2002?. His Fairlane is unbelievable and he and his family are some of the most gracious people I've ever met. What a treat it was to visit with them for a while. Thanks again, Earl!
