I am somewhat ready to start building an engine for next year, dug out my other 428 block. I knew it was not in the best of shape and it wasn't.
But I had a early 60's 391 block that I had used as a dummy building the T-Bird.

I had chaecked it with drill bits and it was the same as my 428 block so the only question was core shift, if there was any and how much.
So I took it for checking and got some numbers. I only had the thinnest section which is where the 2 cyl casting meet and the draft angle is the smallest. Concentrated on the thrust sides. Checked a couple front to back to check core shift. I beleive I have a fine example of a block and a good core to start. Doug who checked felt the lone .157 number might be wrong, he had a hard time getting a reading the number does not make sense compared to the rest.
