I started to go today to Daytona for the Turkey Rod Run but got a call from a friend there yesterday. No parking, had to park in a shopping center across the street, 2 hrs to get a ticket, and packed with people. No recession here, RWJ

T-Rod ?? Walked up at 7:55AM, bought $15 ticket, walked on in

November 29 2008, 5:29 AM

I checked out Swap-Meet till noon. About 10AM the weather was toasty enough for a shirt. I scored a like new BB-Stang C8-D Clutch Fork and very nice original untoushed 67 brushed Alum Deluxe Dash Inst Cluster Insert both were in piles of junk w/o prices for a "DEAL". Stood in line 5 minutes for a genuime Johnsonville Brat (figured no mystery meat within)

After chow I Checked out small part of car show few hours and Car Coral for a few more. Seems that there's ever decreasing numbers of guys selling out of the bed of pickup trucks. Pro Used Car Parts dealers were down a bit (two FoMoCo HiPo Parts Regular Dealers were MIA) and the numbers of others selling Auto-related shit like DieCasts are growing. I stumbled on a guy selling old toys and discovered my since a kid collection of Tonka-toy Trucks, Const Equip etc is worth more then I ever dreamed. Lot more then ever before cars were in Car Coral and only saw one marked SOLD and quality of said cars was low. Never had problem w/ or really even noticed crowds

Saw about half dozen mostly 427 and less 428CJ blocks at regular Ford Dealers. Guy had a magnificent Sheet Metal Intake for Low Riser FE asking $1200. Got his number if anyones interested.

T rod run is packed

November 29 2008, 7:34 AM

I've been going to turkey rod run for 12 years , and this is the most packed i've seen it as far as parking and cars throughout town to view. I always go to Belveue plaza after and it was absolutly insane. Ive never seen it so packed . very fun . Saw lots of FE engines still going strong and found a few 65 galaxies to get ideas for my own . Can't wait till sunday to go back ! Unfortunately , FE sellers were down from what Ive seen for parts . so were the toploader parts . Trying to find the bushing I need for 4 hours to no avail. we'll see sunday.

Just realized the deal I got @ TurkR-R Holman Moody The Legendary Race Team (Hardcover)

November 29 2008, 7:36 AM

Picked it up 10"x11" 248 pages from a Book Dealer at Turkey Rod Run brand new for $15.00 the main reason I bought it was there was virtually no "New Holman Moody" in it. A really cool book with great FE stuff, 50-60-early 70sFord race cars, Ford Corp Racing Insider Stuff and HM drivers. I never guessed the books sell for 2-3 times the listed price inside cover. Looks like just one printing 2002. Wild pics of 60s race winning 427FEs being built in not much more then a wooden shed.......
