the shift lever on a C-6? I have removed the kickdown lever but not sure how the shift lever comes off. Are they pushed on with a tight fit? I'm putting a Z gate shifter in and the original lever must be removed and replaced with the B&M supplied lever.

Pull the pan and there should be a big nut you have to remove to get the shift shaft out. When you reassemble make sure the tang aligns back with the shift valve in the valve body.

You pretty much need to drop the valve body

Unless you have specialized tools there is no way to get teh nut off unless the valve body is out. Even with the valve body out, it is not the easiest nut to get on cleanly. Hawkrod

Shift lever

Isn't some of the C6 shift levers rare? Like the one for a console/floor shift? RWJ

I don't know about rare, but pricey for sure

A floor shift arm is 100 bucks, 66 Tbird is special, Torino/Failrlane column shift is desirable etc... If you going to cut one use one from a pickup or something where they are a dime a dozen. Hawkrod

even at $100 for a trans arm it is a big job to remove, if your time is worth anything plus the cost of oil etc cut it off.

This is so simple. You can always cut it and then wish you didn't.

Remove it the right way and never regret it.
