Flexplate Woes

Hi guys.... I need some help please. Situation - have a 65 352cid with the tranny where the dipstick tube attaches into the side of the pan. The original flexplate broke. Haven't found an exact match but did find a flexplate from a FE with the same type of tranny. tried to put the old engine/tranny back together but the torque converter bolts but up against the flexplate. If I align the flexplate to the bolts then it will work. The ring gear is pressed onto the flexplate towards the engine, not towards the tranny. My question is.... what will happen if I use this flexplate. I still haven't found a 65' flexplate from a 352 and I'm running out of time. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks again. You guys are the greatest and have a heck of a great thanksgiving.

Your scenario is not totally clear to me..........................

but from what I can make of it, it sounds like you may not have the converter seated all the way in the trans. Like John stated, there are several other variables that you did not relate. Any 352/390 Cruiso flex should work. There are some differnt numbers of teeth. I think 65 was the change year and 65 up should work. RonW

If you can get your fingers up between the converter and front pump,

the converter is not in all the way. If so turn, wiggle, as you push on

it till it pops in. There should be a 1/4" between the converter and the

flexplate with the trans up against the engine. Make shure the drainplug

on the converter lines up with the hole for it on the flexplate.

Good luck, coogs

Another thing to help. Get 2 5/8" studs to go in the block to guide the
the trans on. Makes the job a lot more pieasent.
