Either do it yourself or get a really good shop. You don't want someone who doesn't know what they're doing changing gears. I've done a few Dana 44s and an AMC 20 or two on my Jeeps, and they're not really that hard. Tools are expensive though, especially the guages, and you need to be detail oriented to get it right, especially if you're making a big change in gears or if the shims are worn out.
If you're changing only one set, and don't plan on doing others in the future, it's cheaper to have a good shop do it than buy the right tools yourself.
Depending on the gear ratio swap you want to make it could also require a new carrier. Dana used one carrier for 3.07 to 4.10 and a different carrier for 4.56 and up ratios (although Richmond makes a 4.10 set to fit the 4.56 carriers.
If I do it, it'll be from 3.55 to 4.11, so I should be all right on the carrier. My truck is geared so high with the .69 OD that I'm around 1500 RPM at 60. Most of my use is city driving, so I'm thinking that a swap to lower gears would improve mileage along with providing more get up and go.
If you don't have the housing spreader, well, it's pretty easy to pry the diff/ ring gear out, but pretty interesting trying to get it back in with the proper preload. Really makes you appreciate the 9" when you work on an integral carrier- especially a 60 or 70
