Side Center oiler

I purchased a 427 FE with a casting date of 1968. It's somewhat unusual in that it has all the casting characteristics of a side oiler yet it was drilled as a center oiler. Does anyone have experience with this block? Any possibility that the block can be re-drilled into a side oiler?

Thanks.

It's definitely not "somewhat unusual"

It is quite common and my guess is the vast majority of blocks were made that way. They were used for marine and industrial use and some can be drilled for sideoiling although there is little benefit to doing so (unless you plan on doing Nascar track time) but most of them have the passage area machined away around the motor mount so that normal FE mounts could be used and so can't be drilled.
