in th BC area, this is really neat!! have you ever been to one of their events or know of this? wish we could get something like this going here in Havasu, tried many yrs. ago when they shut down the old airport on the island, what a joke, now they are building multi million dollar condos on the Island they can't sell. Anyway this is way cool.

I've been there

I was there in July for a race, it's a pretty cool deal and seems to have great track prep for an active runway. Decent turnout considering the relatively small area population.

It's way up in the hills 200 miles east from here but I will try to get my car there next year.

Wow.
I live in BC and never even knew this event was here!
Anyways, other than the racing if you ever get a chance to tour the Okanagan wine country in the summer it is simply spectacular. It is the northern most point of the Sonoran desert (yes, the one that starts in Mexico).

thanks for this link.

I lived in Vernon during the 50's and 60's and really enjoyed driving the 'old' highway 97 south to highway 3 to get to Vancouver, not the modern highway of today. Lots of twisties back then, not like the long sweepers of today.

Ah yes, the good old (now toll free finally) Coquihalla. It does cut your driving time but at the expense of some exciting twists and turns.

the #3

The Hope-Princeton (#3) still has plenty of twists and turns, you can just take them at higher speeds. The old #1 from Hope to Cache Creek still does too.

Now i'm curious about the "427TP Mistral" login name.

That sounds like a story with pictures is needed.

Hey Tom P....

November 25 2008, 5:57 AM

I do enjoy driving the Fraser Canyon route, Hwy #1 Cache Creek to Hope and Hwy #3 Hope-Princeton hwy. Few years ago I drove Hwy #12 Cache Creek to Lillooet to Lytton and on to Vancouver Intl Airport to catch my flight back to Ont where I live now. Coquihalla Hwy #5 and the new Connector from Meritt to Kelowna doesn't offer much challenge although it does shorten driving time.

I owned a fstbck '68 Mustang GT 390 S code, bought new in Victoria and in 1972 I had it shipped to Ontario because of a job transfer. In 1980 I swapped out the 390 for a 427 SO with 68 CJ heads and LR intake with 2x4bbl carbs, 2 BK carbs. Couple of years later I changed the CJ heads for a TP heads and single plane intake with 2x4bbl carbs.
In 1990 I sold the Mustang with 390 re-installed; I removed the 427 SO before the sale. With this cash I bought my current toy, Cobra replicar, a Johnex. Installed my 427 SO TP with 2x4 bbl carbs and a 4 spd toploader from 68 Mustang CJ. This winter project is to remove the current intake with carbs and replace it with Hilborn FI converted to EFI, similar to Jay's with his SOHC setup.

Cheers....
