I was wondering how many in our group own a factory built 427 car?
We have a lime frost green '67 W-code Cyclone. It has 16,000 miles on it and was never a race car. My father and I restored it about 15 years ago. It sold new at Dulaney Lincoln Mercury in Towson MD. and has always been a local car. My father is the second owner and actually built a motor for it in 1969 for the original purchaser.
How about telling the rest of us about your factory built 427 car. Of course Dennis K. and Rod C. have some pretty cool 427 cars!!!

My 63 R Code XL500 convertible which is under restoration now, my 64 R code 500 which is next and my old 67 Fairlane XL R code which I restored and sold about a year ago.
I have a 67 500Xl R-code Vintage Burgundy Fairlane and a 63 R-code Boxtop Galaxie. The guess the 62 re-body light weight
doesn't count as it started off as a G code.

Hey Jody, Its the Les Ritchey car. I am finally going to have a area to get working on it.
There is a shot in the August issue of Muscle Car Review. Sorry I missed you when you came out to help Steve Magnante with the article.
I'll have more pictures soon.
Rob
Thanks!! Glad to hear your getting ready to go to work on that great car!! I'm also sorry we didn't get to meet when I was out with Steve. That was a great trip. I think the article came out great and the shots of your car were a big part of it!!!
Rod sometimes the "gurus" put out disinformation...

I have talked to a few people who have been told two different answers to the same question from one of the "gurus". This might be a case of keeping his job security. If everyone new the answers then he wouldn't be the "guru".
There is a survivor, unrestored (?) '63 Galaxie that has been shown for a few years, goes by the name of "Rum Runner", something about its background in the moon shine business. I beleive it has a 2x4 427.
The engine is a 427 side oiler. The original engine was kept by the original owner when he sold the car. The engine in the car is a repro 427 Genesis block, an authorized Fomoco replacement part made of cast iron like the original.
Heads are original C8AE 6090-J with 2.15" and 1.76" stainless steel valves. Valve springs and hardware are Comp Cams with 360 pounds on the Intake valves and 325 pounds on the exhaust at .600".
The camshaft is a Comp Cams replacement ground to the original specs except on 110 degree LSA instead of the original 114 LSA.
Drivetrain: The stock C6 has a mild shift improvement kit and a 2200 RPM stall converter. Rear end is the original 3.50: 1 31 spline with traction lock differential.
Notes: Bought the car in 1993. Painted in 1995. New original pattern all leather interior 2007. Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags heat winner 2006.

I have a 1968 W Code 427 Mercury Cougar GT-E, 35,000 original miles, it was off the
road since the mid 70's. Purchased in Dec. of 2006. Currently undergoing
a complete ground up restoration. Every nut and bolt will either be restored or
replaced with NOS.
Original heads, C-6 with VIN # on it, original rear 3.50 traction loc. Original block
was stolen after a rebuild, and was found by the police, so original block
also. Vehicle will be the most detailed and correct as per original, GT-E when finished.
Second 427:
1966 Ford 2 Dr Custom R Code, this car is ONE OF ONE!
Car was special ordered with Power Front Disc Brakes, I have the dealer invoice
showing the option on the car. Popular belief is that there were either 2 or 4
1966 2 DR. Customs that were R Codes. Car was in a barn since 1972, EVERYTHING is original
on the car. Car will be treated to a frame off restoration.

I have a 1967 R code Fairlane. I got it in 1972, before that it was raced and not street drivin much. I think it had 12,000 miles on it. The original motor was gone, but it had most of the rest of the original parts, which I still have, plus I do have an NOS 67 short block for it, and several sets of heads and the other parts. I drove it on the street for a while and then raced it myself, unfortunatly doing some things to it I wish now I hadn't. Its mostly apart now and needs to be restored.........Jim Kramer
