Bird of Prey

November 13 2008, 8:00 AM

I just love '66's, just look like they're ready to swoop down and tear something a new one LOL
It's all stock 428 car at this point, except the Bullitt wheels, still have to fine tune the front a bit, with the 1" spacers to clear the ball joints, the left front- but not the right- just touches the fender trim on bumps- a little alignment work or maybe turning a little off the spacers should do it. I have another one, a 390 car, that I was going to do, that's the one I wanted to put the Bullitt wheels on as it's dark metallic green, mild stroker 427, maybe with EFI, would be sweet- still might work up the 390 car, very nice body- but too many other projects right now

they'd clear easily

Bullitt wheels have lots of caliper clearance, they came on cars with 13" brakes. Besides Gene says he used 1" spacers so i'm sure there's room to put your hand between the caliper and wheel spokes. Wait till he's stopped first!

I've got another one

November 13 2008, 2:02 PM

who's future is undecided at this time LOL. Very straight and solid CA 390 car, electrics and all are actually better than the 428 car.
The Bullitt's are 17x8, calipers aren't the problem, that goofy ball joint with the adjuster nut on it is- the Bullitts are very inset, and hit the nut without a spacer- 1/2" wasn't enough, 1" is more than enough. Gotta tinker with it a little more to get it "right"
EFI stroker 427 with an AOD would probably get me to Reno and back in sportin' fashion hehehe- maybe pull the nice seats out of the LSC and redo them in black leather...

It's on Tatooine - in the outer rim territories . . .

November 14 2008, 8:36 AM

Sorry, couldn't resist. It's typical Santa Fe (New Mexico) style. Flat roof to ensure leaks, passive solar (almost never have to run the heaters). Partially adobe and partially concrete block. 2/3s of the houses around here are in this style.

Questions about rims

November 14 2008, 8:18 PM

I also have a 62 tbird, same color, red interior, bought from estate in CA with 46k miles, 95% restored with 95% left to do.

I put a set of 15" chromie rims on it, because I was thinking about putting disc brakes on it. Grown tired of the chromies and was thinking about a set of tt rims. I do like the look of yours.

What size rims did you put on? Manufacturer? Any problem with setback?
Thanks

Haven't had them off yet

November 16 2008, 8:35 AM

unfortunately the wheels have been on the car since I bought it (recently), I haven't had them off and haven't checked back spacing. Tires are 225 55 17, and the wheels look like they're 8" wide.
