I'm driving the Galaxie to work tomorrow!

I had a cobra friend of mine align the front end at his shop today. It's running fairly well so I'm going to start driving it to work. I really like the gearing, in 5th it's turning 2000 rpm at 60 mph. It's also nice to have power steering and power disc brakes. I'm not used to them yet though they are both touchy. I think I'm going to put the 750 HP Holley back on it this weekend. I have the 600 on it for now. It still seems to be sitting pretty high, I hope the springs settle some.

How long has it been since it's went to work? I can't wait till I'm able to drive my Stang again.

But wasn't really safe to drive for quite a while before that (rusty frame).

Glad to hear you're enjoying the fruits of your labor. Send us some pics when you get a chance. What rear gear and tire size are you running? Mike

PS & PB's Are Welcome in a Galaxie

They make driving it much more enjoyable (and safer in my opinion).

That OD gear also improves the drivability I'm sure. Enjoy your drive, I bet you get allot of thumbs up along the way! ww

Springs will settle..

November 12 2008, 6:47 AM

as I did my '64 back in 2000 and both ends have settled. The rear rim was below the fender lip and now it's 3/4" or more above it. The front has also dropped as it's screwed with my alignment.

Not the race car...

November 13 2008, 8:07 AM

it's my blower car.

Actually the race car still rides on the original rear springs sorta, I've added a couple new upper leaves to get it back up a bit. I'd love to put coilovers on it, but no room with stock gas tank in the way.
