The Mosers I have are 27 1/16 and 31 1/16. The factory ones may be a tiny bit different but these work fine with a DL. You can see the amount of spline engagement if you look at the shade difference on the splines in the photo:

That is correct...

Original Ford shafts should be 31 1/8 for a C9OZ-4234-C and 27 1/16 for a C9OZ-4234-D. They are measured from the outer flange face to the end of the shaft. Hawkrod

Looking for axles?

November 7 2008, 7:20 PM

I lost a bid to ebay on a set of factory
31spl axles for Fairlane. Same length
as the one's you described. I'm glad I
lost the bid.
I found new (direct replacement) 31's
on summit site. (not in catalog)
They are made by Superior. Don't
know much about them. But they look great.
(the one's I got). The price was $145 a piece.
I've had Moser's before, their great. I guess
you have to concider what you're usage will
be (race or street).
I'm going to try them.

$355.00 for 39 year old axles. The buyer was gushing with excitement and so was I. The Cougar can use 28 splines which I have 2 sets of.

I found two local ones for $50 pr. but

November 7 2008, 8:57 PM

they are about 32" (31 27/32) each, so i guess they are from a truck. There was a local guy who used to re-spine them,,, but he died and the guy who bought his equipment cant figure out how to do it...

I need a housing, and i guess unless i 'find a set', new ones are a smart move.

Now for a housing, or one i can cut up...

what kind of abuse.
I do thank that happy buyer for
his bid.
The Summit(Superior) axles are direct
bolt in. Can't beat that.
