rear cam plug

I had to pull the tranny in this 69 390 coupe. Found a pretty heavy coating of engine oil in the bellhousing and engine plate, frt and rear. Found the rear cam plug is in backwards. Can I just punch it with a screwdriver, pry it out and replace it? Engine is in car and I'm on my back on a creeper. What is the best sealer for the plug?
Thanks

that the cup is showing or is the cup towards the cam as it should be. I don't mean to insult you as I don't know how much you know.

Ha ! No insult...I don't know shit , except what I read and what you guys tell me...Cup is showing. The concave side facing out away from the cam. Installed like a freeze plug actually. I'm thinking this is backwards ?? and if not the lip is not flush with the block, sits out appox .010-.015 maybe .

May also have wear on cam thrust plate. Be careful....

of this as if it has worn & you change the plug the end float of the cam may be too much. It may be fine because its pretty well lubricated, but just something to consider.
