I was teasing my chevy loving cousin about buying a chevy truck and putting a real motor in it instead of the sbc. I saw one on ebay and bid on it joking, well i won it for 710 bucks. A 1967 c20, now about a year later he is messing with me for driving it with the chevy motor.I really want to shut his chevy mouth. Anyone have any ideas for mounting a 390 and a 4speed or c6 in there? I have a few 390's and c6's sitting around, i could find a 4 speed. it currently has a 350 and three on the tree. I will post some pics as a response so those with dial-up can save there time.

Universal mount...

November 5 2008, 1:36 PM

I think Transdapt makes a tubular mount that will simply go from frame rail to frame rail. Some guys back in the day used to cut out the crossmember from a 63 - 64 Galaxie and use it.

Advance Adapters used to have a Ford cross member for eng swaps. I don't know if they are still in business or not. DR

and that straight six got 18 mpg on the hwy with a 4 speed and 235/85 - 16 tires and was totally stock but the rear end was chanved from a 3.73 to a 3.35:1. Ran like a top.

Mine was a GMC... i like the 67 body best.

I still say---Put an FE in it!!!

My '63 F-100 had a 390 in it when I bought it. Installation was by way of both the TransDapt engine crossmember and ditto for the trans. Both bolt in---through the angle iron ends that set on the frame rails. You may need to make alterations to the ends if the rails aren't the right distance apart. Easily done. Use a C-6 and about all you'll have to do is hang a shifter and get the drive shaft fixed.
