Holley 735 carb

Finished rebuilding the engine for the '69 428SCJ Drag Pack Mustang I pulled from a barn. Does anyone know of a company that specializes in rebuilt factory carbs? As pulled out of the barn, the original carb was the only thing missing, having been replaced with a Holley double pumper. I'm looking at buying a complete, rebuilt ready-to-run unit.

Hey Goose, I have a buddy that supplies correct date coded cores. He's not cheap but the parts you get will be clean, corrosion free and correct in all aspects. You will require a kit which he can also supply. He used to rebuild them but it wasn't worth it when he would get complaints and then find out that they haven't got a clue how to tune or install a filter etc.
e-mail me if you want to go that route.

Is your car a four speed or automatic? What is the build date on the car?
I may have what you need, send me an email.

"It pays to follow up" department

October 29 2008, 8:18 AM

I've kept in contact with the farmer from who's barn I pulled the '69. He and I hit it off from the get go as I'm an old farm boy myself.
I called him this AM to say "Hi" and he told me he had been meaning to phone. Seems he found a few more parts as he was cleaning out his barn that he thought might be from the '69.
Sure enough, the original carb was in a Holley box, probably the same one that the double pumper came in. He also found the original wheels and tires that came on the car, as it was shod with Pro Trac tires and pitted, rusty Rocket mags as I found it. Of course the tires are shot, but the wheels will just need some cleaning to bring back.
He gave me the parts, true to his word that the price I paid for the car included "everything".
As an aside, I bought from him this AM an old 1948 Allis-Chalmers tractor, just about identical to the one I used to bale hay with! It runs but will need a resto.
Hmmmm. Wonder if anyone makes an adapter for a 390 into an Allis-Chalmers? Well, that's another post.
Thanks to all who responded. You guys are the greatest!
