My buddy across the street who owns the local speed shop has been bugging me for a month about a guy who wants to buy one of my 427's, has some old NASCAR Galaxies and such for Vintage racing- so I finally go see the guy, he's about 2 miles from my work (about 3 miles from Sears Point- on the same road). I walk in, first thing I see is an old early '70's TransAm Camaro race car (ho-hum.. but very nicely restored) and 3 late 50's Corvetes in various levels of disassembly, and he and his two helpers are working on a frame.... Then I see in the corner, a frickin CHERRY '47 Chief- and I've got on one of those bright red "Indian Motocycle Cafe" shirts I got from Frenchy at Branson- he's grinning back, I tell him I got a couple of those too LOL. Then I see the car he needs the engine for- Holy Shit, Batman- beautifully restored, fully pedigreed by chassis # with the race history and accepted for Vintage racing, drug home from back east at great expense, lavender '63 Galaxie Holman Moody NASCAR team car, driven by... Fireball Roberts.. No shit.. All the Holman Moody stuff is still there, weight jacks, multiple shocks, full-floater rear end, long cast iron 427 headers, everything- except it has an old 390 block dummied up in it, he has 3 cars and one engine. One of the last cars Roberts drove before he died in '64. One of his other '63' Galaxies ran at Riverside, and he has a 3rd one. I've never sold one of my 427's, but man, would I like to see that critter run with one of my boomers in it- I just happen to have one ready to put back together, nice aluminum head '63 block with Ross pistons, Eagle rods 'n such, pretty nice piece- what the hell, I got 7 more of 'em if I let that one go
