Leaky Intake/Distributor

My dizzy is leaking around the base and I am getting seepage from the front and rear rails, past cork gasket, around the Performer intake. I was going to use Right Stuff for the rails, but not sure which intake gasket to use. And do I put the intake gaskets on dry, or use a sealer? Also, any pointers on making sure that distributor seats better, it is off about a hair or two, which I believe is causing the leak whick gets significant if I drive it hard. I appreciate all opinions.

My $0.02

Yes, use the "Right Stuff".

No, do not use the cork end seals.  Just run a thick bead of "TRS" front and back.   Preassemble dry first to get an idea of the gap to determin how thick this bead needs to be.

RE: intake sealant, here's a site the shows how to apply it.  http://webrodder.com/article.php?AID=260&SID=11&CID=

RE: distributor leaks.  Install a fresh O-Ring then use the dizzy to help locate the manifold as you assemble it to the block to make sure everything is true.  Being "off a hair" is all it takes to make it leak.

Hope this helps.

if you also have excess crankcase pressure. Run a road draft tube, valve cover breathers or a PCV?

Good info thanks! Any idea of which Fel Pro gasket to use? It looked like they used the black ATV silicone around the ports.

Gaskets

Here is a small sampling of gaskets that I have used.
All have their good and bad points, but as with all gaskets the prep work is the most important.
Also how much machining has been done the the block, heads and intake.
I always use Ultra Black RTV. Have I had leaks. You bet. LOL
All you can do is Do The Best You Can with what you have and drive the crap out of them.
