but I had the piece of micarta and I got it free and it also acts as an insulator. Like I said I have since cut off the offending shelf's or whatever you call them and did lots of blending. The factory made adapter we used was about 1 and 1/2 inches tall, moroso comes to mind but I wouldn't swear to it. Those adapters that the link showed are real "purty" but also very expensive. And as I've found out over the years spendy stuff does not always garuntee more hp. Another thing we found out when dynoing my engine the dyno operator's trick 1250 dominator only added 5 hp over my old 1050 dommy. And they are not cheap now days. 700.00 to 1000.00 in summit. Mine was bought new many years ago when they were less than 400.00. I know my engine is not an FE but it does make 700 plus hp on pump gas for around 6000.00 total. I keep costs down any way possible as I am retired (fixed income you know)I do have an FE in my 57 custom 2 door sedan though. It is of unkown displacement but has a BW 4 speed 427 heads and 428 iron intake manifold. Would love to trade that for an edelbrock performer RPM manifold. I'm not much into NOS stuff (stock is boring)This is the best forum on the internet I check it out every day.
