The next time you have the mount out, you could just cut off the excessive stud length to make it easier next time around. Or you could try to make the GM mount work. On my Fairmont with the Jerico, the tailhousing has multiple trans mount patterns and lenths, to be a bolt in for Fords, MoPars and GM cars. However, since my 428 swap included making up a custom 2"x2" trans crossmember, the stock Ford mount and location that was fine with the C6 didn`t line up properly with the Jerico. I got an early GM trans mount (mid 60`s Camaro, I believe), which happens to use 2 bolts rather than the studs. The height was fine, but I had the make new bolt holes farther apart to bolt up to the Ford mount pattern, and since the 2 lower bolts have a narrower pattern, I also had to slot the crossmember holes to get everything lined up. It`s been working fine for several years now, but if all your stuff is OE right now, I`d try shortening the studs, rather than hacking up your trans crossmember.
