This method was taught to me by the man who restored my 1946 Indian Chief.
He used chain from window weights used in double hung windows from approximately 100 years ago. The weight was inside the frame of the window and was suspended by about a 3' length of chain. The chain has somewhat sharp edges and worked very well. When finished you could fish it out of the tank with a bent coat hanger. Many hardware stores carry about a 1/2 inch link chain that might work as well. The tank had to be shaken for some time. I would follow up with a wash of either MEK or laquer thinner until it came out clear. Then seal as listed previously, bearing in mind that over time, almost all sealers break-down.
