Sorry about the hearing loss, as that really sucks, especially the ringing.
My wifes brother bought Altec Lansing Studio Monitor Model 19s when he was in highschool. The Model 19 is a variation on the V.O.T.T. When I bought my first set of Klipsch Cornerhorns, he bought a set within months. That was 1998, and his Model 19s have been in the closet under his stairs ever since.
Most don't see it as any more silly to spend money on a stereo then it is to spend it on Cammer stuff. A long time ago, I figgured out that I spend more time watching TV or listening to music then I do in the seat of a car, and more time in bed then either, so money spent on a great bed. or on the TV / Audio settup, is money well spent in my book, on the other side of the coin though, the cammer and car stuff has been a more lucritive investment.
