Response to Poll on oil cosumption, members who are running HV pumps & Ersons

When I was working I build numbers of FEs for pick ups, I always used a hi- volume pump with no problem with oil consumption.I also used the factory umbrellas and always tried to get the Brown one used on trucks.Teflon seals look great, but do a poor job of controlling oil thru.the guides. Try and look at Goodson Machine Supplies on line catalog. They have a number of steel cased Viton Seals that will do as superior job of conrolling oil. I use Ford 3.8 V6 seals on our 514 and on our new 542. I've used 'em on lots of Chevies with good sucess. Unfortunately, they won't work on a 3/8 dia. valve. However, Goodson has seals simular to the 3.8 seal in a 3/8 guide diameter. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas to all.
