ron i've ben wondering the same thing. i had a h/v pump in the origional 390 when i put rings and bearings in it. it never seemed to have the problems that i have now. car had 78000 miles on it at the time. didn't replace cam bearings which were worn completely out when i disassembled it later. the 428 was a new build with most every thing new.lots of money for this north georgia redneck.. changing oil pumps with the engine in the car is not considered because it also has windage tray. i noticed not long ago that someone posted the different oil pumps for a fe. there were 5 different ones. knowing what i know now i would only use the stock or cj spec pump...i do think that the pump is at least part of the problem......gopher
