I have the same trans in my 1992 F350 I run mercon five which is a synthetic blend. The trans runs noticeably cooler when towing and shifts better especially when it gets below zero. The truck has 193,000 miles on it and have had no problems with the trans. That is also the same fluid from what I have been told they run in the newer six speeds.
