Response to Do I have to dial in my bellhousing

Doug, I degreed my Lakewood can to my Pond aluminum block last winter. It was off center a considerable amount....I don't have the numbers in front of me now. My engine was on top of my work bench at the time so it wasn't difficult to rotate the crank every 90 degrees and then check the measurements with the dial indicator. If you're doing it with the engine in the car the process will go faster if you have a friend stand at the front of the engine and rotate the crank, while you are under the car with the dial indicator. I agree with Jon use the RobbMc dowels......don't even consider any other brand. Just one man's opinion.
