Response to Re: ZDDP-CAM SHIELD

First of all, as it was explained to me, most all of the major oil companies have virtually removed all the zinc additives [used to control wear] from their products- without notifying the general public! You might be very religious about your service intervals, but if the zinc is gone from the oil, you are going to experience some sort of cam lobe/lifter wear in due time! I used 1/2 oz. per quart for my "breakin period" and ran the engine for about 15-20 minutes at 2000 rpm. I then changed the oil and filter and dropped the amount to 1/4 oz. per quart. I will continue with this 1/4 oz. per quart with each oil change. I figure it's very cheap insurance to protect the life of my engine! It is best, if you own an engine that does NOT have roller lifters/cam, to use a zink additive to protect what you've got! Roller type engines don't need a zink additive, according to "Cam Shield." I hope this helps! Dean
