cast vs billet

Response to I'd buy one....you guys aren't getting it....

A casting is lighter and cheap in larger volumes. By leaving enough flange material a 9.2 or 9.5 deck intake could be used and high ports or stock 351. A 9.5 high port intake is pretty wide and gets close to the valve cover rails but puts the ports in a nice spot for raised HR heads like the BlueThunders.
If you made it billet you'd need to account for the variations, like MR or HR valve cover and port height, port size, intake spyder type and port locations, pushrod hole location. It would be better leaving that stuff to the end user or machining each one manually to suit the order. I'm not sure anybody would bother with a CNC program if no two were alike.

If AE Francis has a similar deal under way i wouldn't bother. I don't think it's ever going to be a huge market and they've got the resources.
