Thanks for the additional information.
"The engine block in the car was a C6ME which was a standard 428 hydraulic lifter block for 1966-68. The 390 & 428 Police Interceptor motors were solid lifter blocks. For a 1964 the PI motor was a 390 and the block would have been a C4AE-F. In 1966 the PI motors were 428s and used blocks C6AE-B and C6AE-F. The engine in the car had the original valve covers with the 390 HiPo decals and the intake part number began with C3 so I guess it may have had the original intake also. I didn't look at the carb."
From what I have researched (and this is by no means gospel and I welcome to be corrected), an aluminum intake was not used on a FE Police Engine until 1966 (428). The 63/65 390 was cast iron with a 4100 carb. The P engine also came through with the cast shorty exhaust manifolds.
I have photos of a known P installation in a 64 and it came through with the gold BIRD rocker covers. I guess those chromed rocker covers could have either been factory ordered or over the counter.
From what I saw on E-BAY, the car was near cherry and of course way out of my price range. Glad you got to inspect it before being stuck with it.
